Indian expert: `Ho Chi Minh is a legendary figure` 0
(Dan Tri) – Dr. S D Pradhan, former Chairman of the Indian Intelligence Committee, called President Ho Chi Minh a legendary figure who nurtured and contributed significantly to developing close relations.

In an article in the Times of India newspaper on the occasion of the 130th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh, Dr. S D Pradhan, former Chairman of the Intelligence Committee and Deputy National Security Advisor of India, called Ho Chi Minh
According to Mr. S D Pradhan, during his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always wanted to cultivate knowledge to help liberate the country from colonial and imperialist slavery.
In 1923, Ho Chi Minh, along with M N Roy, an Indian revolutionary, worked together for the Association of Oppressed Peoples of Asia in Moscow (Russia).
Mr. S D Pradhan said that Ho Chi Minh, who closely studied India’s revolutionary movement, also played an important role in promoting Vietnam – India relations.
The meeting between President Ho Chi Minh and India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation for official relations between the two countries.
During his visit to Vietnam, Mr. Nehru once wrote that he was `impressed by Ho Chi Minh as a friendly and very straightforward person.`
President Ho Chi Minh also had an 11-day state visit to India in February 1958.
Mr. Nehru welcomed President Ho Chi Minh as `a great leader and legendary hero`.
In 1959, India’s first President Rajendra Prasad visited Vietnam at the invitation of Ho Chi Minh.
Mr. S D Pradhan noted that, in 1965, India, as a member of the International Commission for Control and Supervision of Vietnam, expressed concern about the bombing of northern Vietnam.
Mr. S D Pradhan emphasized that President Ho Chi Minh is truly one of the outstanding figures of our time.
